Newsletter Spring 2005 Christmas Concert A number of
members took part in a Christmas Concert with The Ashley Ladies on 12th
December. There was a selection of
readings, sacred and secular. Panto 2005
Aladdin
received very favourable
write-ups in the Romsey Advertiser and the Gauntlet. During the four performances over 300
people came to see the show which was down on last year but still a
respectable achievement. There were
many memorable moments such as the skeleton dance and Abanazer carrying off
the Princess (and dropping her in the lobby on one performance!) The panto is a major undertaking which
would not be successful without the effort of a large number of people, many
of whom are not members of the Players and we are very grateful to them for
their time and support. If you still have any items of costumes please
could you return them to Sue Spurling so they can be put away If you have any photos of the production please
could you bring them along to the AGM, we hope to have a display of the
photos taken by Holly Deacon then. Autumn Production There will be a
start-up meeting on at 7:45pm at the Epworth Hall for everyone who would like
to be involved in the Autumn Play “A Fine Monster You Are!” by Monk
Ferris. The play will be directed by
Vanessa Sharpe. The production will
take place in September. AGM The AGM will
take place at 7:45pm on Thursday May 12th in the Epworth
Hall. Details, including a nomination form for the committee, are
attached. Everyone is welcome to
attend the meeting but only members are eligible to vote. Subscriptions are due at the AGM for the
coming year, £5 for adults and £2.50 for those who are still in full time
education. Production Visit The Stockbridge
Players are putting on an open air production of “The Mad Woman of Chaillot“
by Jean Gireaudoux on July 7th – 9th and there is a
production of “A garden Fete “ by Alan Ayckbourn from July 5th
-9th at the Theatre Royal in Winchester.
Either of these would make an enjoyable evening, if sufficient people
are interested then we will get a group together to go. Please let Melanie know by the AGM if you
are interested. Somborne Society Trafalgar Night We have been
asked by the Somborne Society to provide some entertainment for their
Trafalgar Night dinner on 17th September. We are looking for some sketches, songs and
monologues, please let David know if you are interested in taking part. The Committee
