AGM

The AGM took place on Thursday May 13th.  The minutes are attached to this newsletter.  The committee was re-elected en-block.

Monthly Meetings

In April there was a reading of Macbeth in which the Chairman managed to find comedy that no‑one else ever has!  In June a poetry evening was enjoyed by a select group of members with poems from a range of poets, old favourites and contemporary.

A visit took place to a performance of “The Merry Wives of Windsor” by William Shakespeare in the open air at Mottisfont Abbey.  Luckily it was one of the fairly rare fine dry evenings in July and the visit was much enjoyed.

Harvest Supper

A number of the players will be helping provide entertainment for the harvest supper by singing, playing, performing monologues and sketches and juggling.

Charade and The Patient

The two one act plays will take place on 8th & 9th October.  Charade is directed by Rebecca Rickard.  It has an all female cast and is about the search for a unique character to star in a film.  Sue Jackson makes her debut on stage in this after the rigours of stage management for the pantomime.  The Patient is directed by Sue Spurling and is set in a Nursing home and is an Agatha Christie whodunit with the usual multiple suspects.  This play sees the return to the Kings Somborne stage of Nigel Coleman as the Inspector.

Panto 2005

Although the play is still to take place we have already begun to plan for the pantomime.  It will be “Aladdin” and Jo Finch has agreed to direct with Melanie Haydon as Producer.  The script has been selected via the internet and has more freedom than printed scripts to make topical changes to suit our environment.  There will be a start-up meeting at the Epworth Hall at 7:45pm on Thursday 14th October for all those adults interested in taking part.  The first rehearsal will be on 28th October and rehearsals will generally be on Thursday.  A date for children interested in taking part will be announced once the main parts have been cast.  The production will be later than this year, we are looking at March 17th – 19th as Stockbridge Players have a production the first week of March.
