Harvest Supper
Entertainment organised by Vicky Burden and directed by Audrey
Gannaway 13th October
2007 Extracts from the Gauntlet review “Harvest Supper at
the Village Hall” The entertainment was
“vintage”. It started with “Time Warp”, featuring Napolean (Alan Glynne
Jones) and Josephine (Vanessa Sharpe), who kept us all in hoots of laughter
as the act ended with the immortal words “Not tonight, Josephine”. Then Chris Hall gave a
splendid rendition of Hilaire Belloc’s Matilda – again much laughter – so we
were all in the mood for the final entertainment “A Trouble Shared” which the
MC for the evening, Chris Hall, explained had been complicated by two people
(Bob Pritchard and Vicky Burden) both playing the same part of the village
suitor and each initially appearing from behind the tree, one at a time. As
Sue Jackson was explaining to Lesley Evans that Squire Atkins (Nigel Coleman)
had designs on her, more often than not both suitors came out and it all
ended with the squire being rejected and Sue going off with both suitors,
much to everyone’s amusement.
