Present: Vicky Burden, Nigel Coleman, Alan Glynne Jones, Melanie Haydon, Vanessa Sharpe

1.      Minutes of the meetings 5th September and 7th October 2007 and matters arising

The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted.

Ø      Costumes have been moved to Sarah’s. They need sorting before Christmas so as to be accessible for panto.

  • Signatories have been changed. The signatories for the Players’ account are Melanie, Vicky and Vanessa.

Ø      The Rickards can collect jigsaws from Melanie.

 

2.      Grant application

Melanie went through the form for applying for a grant to confirm details with the committee. The form includes details on our number of members and users, meetings, income and expenditure and what we are bidding for.

We are bidding for:

  • a shed with ventilation and concrete base for storing costume
  • new curtains and curtain mechanism for the village hall
  • new flats for scenery

They also request:

Ø      a copy of the constitution which needs to be updated at the next meeting and typed

Ø      pricings for items bid for: Vicky to find costings for a concrete base for the shed, scenery and curtains

Ø      a list of events

Ø      a mission statement: to be considered and planned by the committee before the next meeting and written at the meeting

 

3.      Play 2007 – post production

The committee thanked Vanessa Sharpe for directing, Jo Finch for producing and Chris Hall for designing and creating the set for “An Inspector Calls” which was very well received by large audiences.

Income:        £1290

Expenses:      £  826

Profit:             £  464

Other points noted that contributed to the success of the production were:

  • the bar (which could have made more if open before the performances)
  • publicity, including the professional posters and the website
  • hiring good quality costumes
  • using a known playwright and play, particularly a play on the school syllabus

 

4.      Panto 2008

Cinderella by Stuart Ardern & Bob Heather to be performed on 22nd and 23rd February 2008. Rehearsals started immediately after this meeting. The Epworth Hall is booked for Thursdays until Christmas and the Village Hall is booked for Thursdays and Sundays from January. It was noted that the Moviola has now moved to a Thursday night which will conflict with some rehearsals.

Ø      The committee will need to decide ticket prices and the number of performances.

Ø      Vicky to email rehearsal schedule and cast list to Vanessa to include in newsletter

 

5.      Events

Ø      Improvisation evening - Wednesday 21st November 7.45pm – Vanessa and Sue (if available) to organise.

Ø      Pub quiz - Thursday 13th December 9.00pm

Ø      We will need an alternative to the proposed video making in January.

Ø      Theatre trips and a panto workshop were suggested.

 

6.      AOB

Ø      Vanessa to write a short Autumn Newsletter including info on the play, Harvest Supper, panto and costume, with the view to producing another newsletter in January focusing on events up to the AGM.

 

Next meeting: Wednesday 5th December 7.45 at Vicky’s. The agenda will include completing the grant application and organising future events.
