Vicky’s

Minutes

Present: Vicky Burden, Nigel Coleman, Alan Glynne Jones, Melanie Haydon, Vanessa Sharpe

Apologies: Sue Holligan, Rebecca Rickard

1.      Minutes of the meeting 26th June 2008 and matters arising

The minutes of the previous meetings were accepted.

Actions completed, unless detailed below:

Ø      Vicky to email Chairman’s report and list of activities to Vanessa.

Ø      Vanessa to update website with AGM info – chairman and treasurer’s report.

Ø      Alan to look into website address change and email Players their forum password.

Ø      Vicky to find out about CRB checks (children’s performance).

Ø      Sarah Litton to be asked at a later date about panto workshops.

Ø      Vanessa to produce membership cards.

Ø      Vicky to write letter to Joseph and Thomas Rickard and Christopher Waggott to thank them for the puppet show – which was a great success and raised £15 for the Church.

Ø        Vanessa to respond to Proteus with latest details.

Ø        Hall will be needed from 2.30-10.30 – Vanessa to write to Joyce to confirm booking (also to confirm booking for Play 2008 and Panto 2009 – check half term dates).

Ø        Look out for interesting performances and post-show talks – perhaps at the Nuffield or the Chesil.

Ø        Vanessa to write a newsletter, including casting for the play. Draft to be sent to committee. Agreed version to be distributed to members and friends.

Dangerous Corner – Sue Holligan declined the role of Miss Mockridge, David is considering alternatives. We are still looking for a producer.

2.      Village Hall Development

Melanie spoke to Amadeus and asked them to find people in Hants who use moveable staging. Also spoke to Sico who will come to us to demonstrate a unit. They also provide moveable curtains and proscenium arches, but no one in this area has them in use already.

Alan has a list of local customers for Stage Systems – all Q build. Used in KS School and Longstock. Unlikely suitable for our needs – too low, fixed frame, labour intensive, large storage, difficult movement. Contact suggested steepledeck and topdeck.

Ø    Melanie to arrange demonstration on a Monday? Contact companies to arrange date then invite Village Hall Development Committee.

Ø    Vicky to try to get hold of a Q build to demonstrate – from school.

Ø    Alan to look into steepledeck and topdeck.

3.      Costume

Costume is still with Sophie Lyons. Melanie has been looking into cost of hiring storage – expensive and likely to be in Winchester. Point raised about need for scenery storage soon as well.

Ø    Vicky to check time limit with Sophie. If possible keep costume there until January keep regular/flexible panto garments and store in Players’ houses. Offer remaining to members/village then freecycle.

Ø    Vicky to ask John Chalcroft about scenery storage.

4.      Panto

We need a script, a director and a producer.

Ø      Vicky to ask Sue Jackson about directing (then Kerry/Duncan Natt).

Ø    Vicky to ask Kelda about producing.

Ø    Committee to look at panto scripts on www.lazybeescripts.co.uk and www.gwizzpromotions.co.uk. Look for 10 major characters plus 10 minor, opportunities for children’s chorus and dancing, few scene changes. Suggestions: Jack and the Beanstalk, Dick Whittington, Puss in Boots, Wizard of Oz, Sinbad.

5.      AOB

Ø    Vanessa to email all players about the Beetle Drive on 25th July and the Children’s performance and barbecue on 15th August.
